Monster Fish

I stopped to watch a local man cast-net fishing in a rain-swollen stream in Suong, Cambodia. He speaks Khmer, the Cambodian language. He fishes here often during the wet monsoon rainy season from June to November. This gentleman is wearing traditional Cambodian Krama scarf. He is trying to catch small fish and rice paddy crabs.

It was fun to watch as he casts the net and later checks his catch, a traditional way of fishing for generations in Cambodia. There is something I love about the simplicity of life in the countryside void of excessive technology. Although his appearance is simple, please do not assume that he is not intelligent or destitute. He has a simple countryside home and loves his homeland and country very much; he is very proud to be Cambodian. I stayed in the Suong City area for several days with family and the local people were extremely friendly and kind.

This is my adult tarantula - she is female. Her name is Acanthoscurria geniculata and this species is commonly knows as Brazilian whiteknee tarantula or Whitebanded Tarantula. This one is really big one and I fed her using one mouse. She striked quickly and the mouse had no chance to survive. Python vs Antelope

All snakes are not poisonous. Some snake kill their prey by wrapping themselves tightly around it. These snake are called constrictors. Boas and python belong to this family. while some constrictors are just a few inch long, others, like the boas constrictor, can measure over 18 feet. One of the largest snake in the world, the Anaconda of South Africa, is a boa constrictor. These snake have very thick, muscular bodies.

Python and boas cannot see very well. Instead, they use their tongue to sense the scent of their surroundings. They dart their forked tongue in and out to detect food. They also have heat sensors near their nostrils to locate warm-blooded animals. Boas and python also have heat pit located on their heads. These temperature-sensing organs are so sensitive that the snakes can effectively sense even a slight change of 0.002 Degre celsius. Snake are reptiles. There are about 2,7000 species of snakes and they are found in all countries. Snake have long narrow bodies without any limbs. Snakes range in length from just a few centimetres to 12 metres. They move by sliding along the ground by throwing their bodies into rippling loops. About 300 species of snake are poisonous. Monster

There are two great complexes of ancient temples in Southeast Asia, one at Bagan in Burma, the other at Angkor in Cambodia. The temples of Angkor, built by the Khmer civilization between 802 and 1220 AD, represent one of humankind's most astonishing and enduring architectural achievements.  Conventional theories presume the lands where Angkor stands were chosen as a settlement site because of their strategic military position and agricultural potential. Alternative scholars, however, believe the geographical location of the Angkor complex and the arrangement of its temples was based on a planet-spanning sacred geography from archaic times. Using computer simulations, it has been shown that the ground plan of the Angkor complex – the terrestrial placement of its principal temples - mirrors the stars in the constellation of Draco at the time of spring equinox in 10,500 BC. While the date of this astronomical alignment is far earlier than any known construction at Angkor, it appears that its purpose was to architecturally mirror the heavens in order to assist in the harmonization of the earth and the stars. Both the layout of the Angkor temples and the iconographic nature of much its sculpture, particularly the asuras (‘demons’) and devas (‘deities’) are also intended to indicate the celestial phenomenon of the precession of the equinoxes and the slow transition from one astrological age to another. Cobra vs Vava

Looking at a snake, you might think that it has no bones. It seems to squeeze its way through the tiniest of cracks in the ground or on the trees. But the truth is that a snake has more bones in it back than any other animal. This bones, called vertebrae, are linked to one another by thousands of muscles. The snake can move these muscles to crawl in various way-sideways, winding to and fro and moving in big loops.

Some snakes do not have teeth at all, while other have very sharp ones. They do not use these teeth to tear or chew their food. They use them for gripping their prey, which they swallow whole. Python Vs Crocodile

Crocodiles and alligators are amongst the fiercest hunters ever to have lived on our planet. Another reptile that resembles them in body and behaviour is the gharial, found only in the Indian subcontinent.  The earliest ancestors of these reptiles lived around 250 million years ago, when dinosaurs waked the earth. Their body has not changed much in all these years. For this reason, they are sometimes called "living fossils".

A snake never stop growing. It continues to grow longer and thicker, even when it is old. The heaviest snake in the world is the Burmese python. It weighs around 200 kilograms, which is almost the weigh of a Siberian tiger. Another giant mover is the Reticulated python-the longest-known snake in the world. King Cobra Vs Python

When threatened, the king cobra spreads out its hood and rises off the ground to look at the eye. The hood of the Indian cobra has eyespots, which look like a pair of spectacles. King cobra are famous for their complex and unique parental care. A pair of king cobras help each other to find a suitable nesting spot. In spite of having no limbs, the femal snake scoops dead leaves around with it long body and make a nest.

In ancient times, people created tales of mysterious snake - like monsters that roamed the river and seas. These monster were said to be unbelievably long and heavy. As zoologist studied wild life, and as science developed, it became known that the ancient people may not have been entirely incorrect. They might have actually seen incredibly large snakes. when a snake grows, it be comes long and thick. Due to this, its skin stretches. Since it slithers on the ground, the skin gets rough and damaged. To keep it shiny, clean and of the right size for the baby, the snake shed its skin regularly. This process is called moulting. A new skin grows in place of the one that shed.

Monkey and apes are considered to be the most intelligent mammals. The chimpanzee's intelligence is believed to be very similar to man. Snake Vs Cat

The teeth, tusk and claws of the animals provide defense in the event of an attack. The teeth of a hippopotamus are large enough to slice through a crocodile. The tusks of a walrus which can be over 2 feed, help in their self defense. The claws of the cat are very sharp and prove to be effective weapons for attack and defense.

A snake belongs to the same family as the tortoise but it looks completely unlike one. It dose not have the tortoise's shell or its stocky limbs. In fact, a snake has no limbs at all. It look like a tail with mouth. You probably think that all snake are the same. How ever, you will be surprised to know that there are over 2,500 different types of snake in the world. Big Squid

Aquatic animal are those, which live in water. Example of these are dolphins, whales, porpoises etc. In such animals, forelimbs are like flipper and hindlimbs are absent. Dolphins and fresh water porpoises are quite intelligent. Seals, sea lions and walruses are also aquatic mammals which come to the land in order to rest and breed.

Whale have highly elastic lungs in order to take in maximum air before they go under water. They have a fatty layer called blubber which reduces the lose of heat and also specific gravity of the body. Animal

Lions are good hunters and their pray includes antelopes, zebra, giraffe and many others. The maximum hunting is done by the lioness. They usually have good eyesight and hunt in the dark.

Although its pray may be fast moving but the lion being stealthy creeps close to it victim before making its attack. They often work as a team and thus cut off the prey's escaping area.
