While some snake are facing extinction because their habitat is being encroached upon or taken away, other species are dying because poachers hunt them down for their skin or venom. One of the deadliest snakes in the world, the king snake, may soon only be a part of legend, as it is highly endangered.
Measuring the length of the snake is not easy. When a snake is caught, it tends to coil it self. When it dies, its body stretches a lot, and it look much longer then it was, when it lived. This makes it almost impossible for scientists to know the exact length of any lining snake.
