Snakes are reptiles. There are about 2,700 species of snake of snakes and they are found in all countries. Snake have long narrow bodies without of any limbs. Snakes rang in length from just a few centimeters to 12 m. They move by sliding along the ground or by throwing their bodies into rippling loops. About 300 species of snakes are poisonous. Most snakes eat other animals, such as small mammals and birds. Some eat eggs also.
Most species are active during the day and are terrestrial, although the marsh mongoose and a few others are. Some mongooses live alone or in pairs, but others, such as the banded mongoose, dwarf mongooses, and live in large groups. Litters usually consist of two to four young.
